“Just the list for people in a hurry…”

Note: This is not a substitute for the full article. It's a just a summary of the things you should know about multi-factor authentication

Passwords (even good ones) may not be enough

Many are still quite hackable or able to be intercepted by hackers

You must use a second layer of protection when available

Two-factor authentication is abbreviated as 2FA

Multi-factor authentication is abbreviated as MFA

Authentication factors can be many things…

Something you know (e.g. a password)

Something you have (e.g. a phone)

Something you are (e.g. a fingerprint)

Requiring two (or more) factors ensures better security

Enable 2FA/MFA when available; otherwise hackers might hijack your account
